You stretch yourself across a multitude of sports? Can you touch on your involvement & what draws you to doing so many?
I’ve always loved to run, but my attention span is short so triathlon just makes sense so I can mix it up a bit. I’ve always been drawn to competition & awesome people who know what hard work is, I love being able to rip into people on course then laugh & talk shit about it afterwards.
What brought you to start running & keeps you at it?
I love the outdoors, especially out in the WaitĀkere Rangers. I was always in the bush as a kid, no cellphones, no one knew where we were or what we were doing & I always had an extra bit of energy that needed to be offloaded somewhere so running & exercise was great. Running on the trails after a long day just gets your mind of things & it’s like a breath of fresh air, literally.
Are you training for anything in particular at the moment?
It depends, I mostly run nowadays because it’s fun & it means you’re more awesome than 90% of the population sitting around doing nothing. I’m planning to do the rest of the crossy season & then the road season, in preparation for a hopefully... finally... a good triathlon season, when summer comes around.
Music or no music?
Goggins says music is cheating Haha nah I love music, but sometimes you cant enjoy running while listening to music. But my go to would be some house or edm to get myself over the hills.

I think you always have to be aiming for constant improvement in something & aim to be better that before. It’s important for me to be constantly working hard in the pool, on the bike & on the run, because it keeps your mind strong & in check in. doing so makes everything else you do in life much easier.
