You're involved in a wide span of projects & businesses, could you give us a background on what you do?
Hey! Sure thing. So, professionally speaking, I introduce myself as Writer & Brand Consultant for online and physical publications, independent retailers, brands and creative agencies. But, on a lighter note, I still just see myself as a product enthusiast whether that be technical outerwear, performance-geared running apparel or what not. I have worked alongside some amazing partners in my 6 years as a writer since I started my website/blog - www.aligeorgehinkins.com
Given your knowledge across outdoor gear, what do you look for in the utility of each item?
Utility, for me, comes in the form of being versatile and dynamic so I think an item should be equally as functional and utilitarian across multiple environments from rural to urban, active to sedentary. It might seem like a lot to ask but I know what I’m after haha!
I’m not the biggest fan of carrying a bag so I tend to gravitate towards a jacket with both external and internal pockets to carry things like my phone, wallet and keys, or whatever else I pick up along the way!
One of the most important choices with gear is footwear, what’re your top picks for inner & outer-city shoes?
I live in a rural-ish area within close proximity to concrete-heavy urban areas so, once again, a versatile footwear choice is key. I switch between two footwear models, the Salomon Sportstyle XT-6 and Roa Andreas boot. For me, they combine comfort with functionality as well as working seamlessly with what I wear.
We have a phrase: Conductive Repetition, improving oneself through consistency & persistence. What are some things you’re working towards in the near future?
As you guys mentioned with regards to consistency and persistence, I’m going to keep plugging away with what I’m doing now and we’ll see where things take us in the near future but I am very optimistic. I’m still young and I’m definitely still learning new things within this space day-by-day!
What's next on the workout schedule?
Get back into running! It’s taken a backseat over the last year for one reason or another but I want to get back to it.. Also, there are some exciting work-related projects in the pipeline so just keep an eye out. :)
